We’re dedicated to making our internet banking service safe and secure.
At Alliance & Leicester, we take your security very seriously. We use the latest technology to allow you to bank online with confidence.

Naturally, we expect you to exercise reasonable care to keep your security details safe at all times - for full details refer to the internet banking terms & conditions.
Things we do to protect you
- We’ll provide you with unique security details.
- Your transactions will take place within a secure session.
- To verify your identity, we’ll ask you to provide a password for certain transactions such as new payments.
- You can view the details of when you last logged in, including the time and date, so you can check for any activity that you’re not aware of.
- We can block access to your account if the security details are entered incorrectly.
- We’ll automatically log you out of your banking session after five minutes of inactivity.
- Our security learning centre provides valuable information on internet fraud and how to best protect yourself against it.
Things you can do to stay safe online
- Never give away personal details in an e-mail.
- Check for your image and phrase so you know you’re logging into the genuine Alliance & Leicester internet banking website.
- Always look for the SSL certificate via the padlock in the bottom right hand corner of the website and check the web address starts with https:// before providing security details.
- Protect your computer with a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware software.
- Always enter the web address to be sure that the site you’re visiting is ours. Do not use a link from an e-mail that asks you to enter your security details, as this could take you to a phoney website that may look very similar to Alliance & Leicester’s.
- If you receive an e-mail claiming to be from Alliance & Leicester that you are suspicious about, please report it to suspiciousemails@alliance-leicester.co.uk
If you have already responded to one of these e-mails, contact the internet banking helpdesk immediately on 0844 800 1144† (+44 870 900 1199 if you’re calling from outside the UK).
